Hinds Flooding Appeal badges

In late May 2021, Canterbury suffered from severe flooding, especially the Ashburton district. The Hinds Scout Hall was one of the many buildings flooded. An appeal was started to raise funds for the repair of the building. Belgique Badges have contributed to this appeal by making badges and donating them to the Hinds Scout Group. (Badges are $5 each plus postage). The group is now selling them to raise funds for both their hall repair and also for the wider township.

The badges depict a hind (female deer) which is featured in a sign in Hinds township. The light green background and dark green border on the badges are taken from the colours of the Hinds Scout Group scarf. The wavy lines represent water and the recent flooding. This water symbol is also on badge of Mania-o-roto Zone (which Hinds Group is part of), and acknowledges the zone name has a translation of ‘the land between the waters’.

If you would like to acquire a badge and thus contribute to the flood appeal fund, please contact Hinds Scout Group at: hinds@group.scouts.nz
